STRIKE ACTION IN THE CIVIL SERVICE

Please be aware that the PCS union will be taking national strike action on 8th and 9th March. This action is to oppose unilaterally imposed changes to the civil service arrangements for redundancy. In other words the proposed changes are a way of sacking civil servants on the cheap.

We have experienced an onslaught on our own Service and jobs over recent years and this is reflected in the experience of others working in the public services. In the civil service some 80,000 jobs have been lost since 2004. Many civil servants are low paid with more than half earning less than £20,000 per year. These latest attacks are a mechanism to force further job cuts through and avoid adequate compensation for those affected.

Please consider supporting local rallies, pickets and lobbies on 8th and 9th March.

Further details can be found on the PCS website at:  http://www.pcs.org.uk

Best wishes.

Yours fraternally

MATT WRACK
GENERAL SECRETARY
